I’ll Be There For You (Not)

All those people flash in front of my eyes,

Who said they’ll stay,

But, then took a flight,

The moment things got tough,

With rough conversations in sight,

Their “I’ll be there for you”,

Looked like a thief caught in broad daylight.

I wish they had never said what they did,

I wish I never met when I did.

Because now when someone tells me,

They’ll be there, I see,

All those faces flashing in my eyes,

Questioning myself all night in quiet,

To trust them or to make them stand in light,

That either shows them in disguise,

Or makes them the shield that hugs me tight.
