Fond Absences

I don't know what they mean when they say, "We're looking at the same moon"

For aren't we miles apart,

From the moon and each other,

Yet, thinking about one another,

At the same time?

But, that doesn't lessen the distance between us, does it?

I don't know what they mean when they say,

"You're under the same sky"

For aren't we in different cities,

Hours from each other,

Yet, wondering how the weather is still the same,

At the same time?

But, that doesn't bring us closer physically, does it?

But, I know what they mean when they say,

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder"

For aren't we troubled by the absence,

Of something and someone,

Without realising how much it means,

To just be there for someone?

But, that doesn't mean anything to you, does it?
