Hamza And Mallika

I have seen this quote so many times while doom scrolling on Instagram and every single time I read it, I thought of her; never realising that one day I would be in that exact situation secretly saying a silent prayer too.

"We both knew neither of us would make the call first. But we both knew that we would pick up if the other one called, at any time."

So, there I was standing outside the venue with every equipment I needed, except a tiny, little SD card. The card I kept on my desk last night but totally forgot to keep in my bag this morning. And now, here I was almost unable to do my work. I bet you would be thinking, then, find a shop and buy a new one. Well, it's 6 am and no shop would open up before 9 and I am almost running out of ideas what to do. Now, you must be thinking, just BlinkIt or Zepto it. But, for some reason, my phone's data is not working and obviously there's no WiFi at this place.

So, the next best idea is to call her. I haven't called her in 1543 days. She hasn't called me either. And, after stress walking 1000ish steps I decide to do it and say a silent prayer - please pick up, please pick up.

"Hamza, hello?"

The peace I felt after listening to her voice saying my name, in her, sleepy yet worried voice. I couldn't believe I'm hearing her. But, what an idiot I am, wasn't I just praying for her to pick up the call?

"Mallika, you picked the call.." I say like an bugger idiot.

"Of course, Hamza, what happened? Is everything okay?"

"Yes. No. Yes, I am, I'm okay but I need your help."

"What help?"

"Can you send me a SD card at an address? I'm at work and I forgot mine and I didn't know what to do at this hour and I knew you would be able to help me out. I, my data is not working, or I could've done it and I didn't know who to call.." I blabber, hoping to convince her but she doesn't need any convincing and she cuts me off and simply says,

"How much GB? Where are you?"

"128. KLM Ave, Sea Street"

"You'll get it in 5 mins"

"You already ordered?"

"Yes, did you need anything else?"

"No. But, you didn't ask me anything."

"No, why would I? You said you needed me and I'm here"

"Mallika, thank you, I don't know what I would have done without you today"

"You would have been fine, Hamza"

"Not at all. No."

"Then you could have simply called and I would pick up"

"I did just that."

"Me too. Acha, listen, the delivery guy is calling, probably for the location, I'll hang up, have fun at work"

And before I could say anything more, she hung up. The silence that followed was unbearably silent and the air felt suddenly colder. but right then an Activa stops in front of me, hands me a SD card and the boy on it says, "Bhaiya, aapki Mrs ne bahut ache se guide kiya, kaha, sabse khoobsurat aankho wale ko dena hai. Aapki Mrs bahut achi hai, unke liye phool le jaana aaj." And, he zoomed past me.

Well, the Mrs, saved my day and I'm getting her flowers.

This Phase Of Life

Between level ups, character development and the plot thickening, I know I'm moving through the most important phase of my life yet, And there's absolutely nothing in my control, Nor I want any of it,

Kaha Hai Woh?
