Shehar Se Naate

Raja ki kahaniyan koi,

Unki raaniyon ki koi,

Shehar se tere nata aisa,

Jaha ke kisse hai kai.

Chode na choote koi,

Iraade hai nek koi,

Tasveero ka hissa aisa,

Jiske vaade hai kai.

Kaise raaste yeh le aaya hai koi,

Jaane-pehchaane, anjaane hai koi,

Baaton hi baato mein bane hai,

Shehar se tere mere naate kai.


Translation of the first stanza:

Of kings a few,

Of their queens a few,

My stories of your city,
