In A Dark Room

You know what happens in a dark room,

With just a small window to breathe,

And from where only minimal light enters?

Your thoughts run faster than a sprinter,

From one end of the room to the other,

To recognise something familiar,

In this known yet unknown space,

With a way out yet somehow trapped.

Until the light slowly makes way in the room,

And your eyes adjust to the darkness,

Which now seems almost comfortable,

But at what cost?

And once the thoughts settle down in a corner,

For there is no where else to go,

The darkness doesn't seem so dark now,

For you don't know a world that exists,

Without that darkness anymore.
