Longing

I long for you like the earth longs for rain,

After months of dryness.

I long for you like the shore longs for waves,

After each wave that leaves it’s side.

I long for you like the songs long for lyrics,

After each chorus waiting for a new verse to begin.

I long for you like the sky longs for the moon,

After a night of staying apart.

I long for you like a swimmer longs for a breath,

After each deep dive.

I long for you as this poetry longs for words,

After every metaphor I write.

I long for your love,

For as long as I could remember.
