Memory

I took the box out,

In which all the memories of the last year is kept,

Every one of them tucked in safely,

From the forgetful world.

As I open it carefully,

The light shining from inside,

Fills up my dark room,

With the music of the good days,

And dust of the bad ones.

I take one memory out at one time,

In the form of pictures,

With faces glowing with unending smiles, bear hugs and groups standing tall and proud.

But, when I take out the memory with you in it,

The time seems frozen,

The smiles on our faces bringing the warmth to my face,

The arms holding each other,

As if to hold the moment from slipping away,

The room filling up with sound of your name,

With the smile creeping up my face.

As much as I try to grab another memory,

Yours never wants to leave me,

Making me think,

Whether you’ll be thinking about me too,

Right then or any other time for that matter,

Or the memories are just mine,

To keep for a lifetime.
