Olfactory Bulbs & Memories

They say the Olfactory bulbs process the smells and fragrances to carry it to the Amygdala where emotions are processed and then to the Hippocampus where memories are stored.

They also say that only scents travel directly to the Amygdala and Hippocampus.

Maybe that’s why when the garden smelt like fallen leaves of unknown plants mixed with the scent of dry soil and a whiff of a distant flower blooming, my Olfactory bulbs, Amygdala and Hippocampus all worked in tandem to bring a visual of you and I walking some 1000 kms away in a garden which had a scent just like today.

They say you leave a piece of your heart at every place you visit.

I say, we do. We leave it only to use it to teleport through scents and conversations, through skies and sunsets, through you and I to meet us, in moments we never thought would become so significant in our lives.

Today, confirmed every bit of that.
