To be born in a culture,
That appreciates grains, spices and flavour,
To have recipes passed down through generations,
Of something so wholesome,
Soft, white, cooked to perfection, chawal,
Basmati with jeera for me,
Chawal of your choice for you,
And spiced to perfection rajma,
Cooked slow with a hearty tadka of aromatics,
Tomatoes adding to the perfect tang and colour,
And some secret ingredients to make the mushy rajma even more flavoursome.

To be born and to be alive,
