The Deep Dive

She takes a deep breath,

Dives in deep,

The only thing keeping her alive is,

The one dot of light,

Reflecting itself on the surface,

But unable to rip apart the darkness within.

She exhales through bubbles,

That burst as soon as they reach the dot.

She exhales through bubbles,

That carry hope to the dot.

She exhales through bubbles,

That keep her safe.

Until she’s out of bubbles to exhale,

Until she’s done diving deep.

Until it all looks dreamy,

Until she wakes up,

Dripping in sweat,

Rather than in the salty sea water,

She hoped she was drowning in.
