Lyrical Memory

It was as if the lyricist,

Wrote that song,

Just to add a background score,

To the memory I can't seem to forget,

So when I hear it after months,

All the incidents play like a movie in my head —

As the night falls,

And I can't sleep,

And you sing lullabies,

As if we were each other's to keep,

When days and nights started and ended with each other's name,

Wanting to hold each other longer,

And to take each other to places we can't name,

As our toes touch lands of far away,

With our messy hearts,

Swaying in the cold rain.

I smile remembering it all,

As the music fades but the memories stay on.
